Thelma Fern Carson, 90, of Bolivar died at 6:17 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, 2006, in Citizens Memorial Hospital, Bolivar. She was born Jan. 7, 1916, at Goodson, the daughter of Oma Lee and Georgia Frost Morris.
She worked at Mays Grocery, was a homemaker and a member of the Salem Missionary Baptist Church. On Oct. 2, 1938, she married Oren Henry Carson. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband of 66 years, Oren Carson; six brothers, Ralph, Floyd, Leon, Ken, Bob and Roma Morris; and a sister, Inez Pearl Shadwick.
She is survived by a son and his wife, Jim and Barbara Carson, and a daughter and her husband, Phyllis and Jack Scott, all of Bolivar; six grandchildren, granddaughters Jami Russell and husband Brent of Springfield, Kelly Baumhoer of Beaufort, S.C., grandsons Shawn Carson and wife Tina of Clever, Brad Mashburn and wife Debbie of Troy, Kent Mashburn of Springfield, and Casey Mashburn of Fair Play; three sisters-in-law, Hope Morris of Mt. Vernon, Jean Morris of Brighton and Alcy Larkey of Harrisonville; a brother in-law, Johnnie Carson and wife Shirley of Bolivar; eight great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, at Pitts Chapel with Bro. Donnie Lane officiating. Burial will follow in the Salem Cemetery, Cliquot. Visitation will be held an hour before the services from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday morning. Pallbearers will be Shawn Carson, Chance Russell, Kelton Russell, Foday Mashburn, Drew Mashburn and Brock Mashburn. Honorary pallbearers will be Kent, Casey and Brad Mashburn.
