DAVENPORT - Lauretta B. Brooks, 76, of Davenport, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at Trinity at Terrace Park in Bettendorf. Funeral services will be Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010, at 10 a.m. at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the mortuary. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport. Memorials may be made to the family.
Lauretta was born March 27, 1933, in Rock Island, the daughter of Dwight Justus and Theola (Briggs) Bonney. She married Hobert Brooks on February 19, 1950, in Rock Island. He died Jan. 12, 1978.
Lauretta retired after more than 15 years as a cook for the Davenport Moose Lodge. She enjoyed reading, puzzles and NASCAR, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, James (Sue) Brooks, Timothy (Jennifer) Brooks, Janet Sabel, Karen (Richard) Runge, Debbie Schafer, Lois (Blaise) Studer, and Rebecca Biles and her fianc? Brian Mott, all of Davenport; 24 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Elmer Justus and Paul Bonney, both of Davenport, Everett Bonney, Jr., LeClaire, Iowa, Barb Hoffman, Methel Neff, Donna Bonney, Mary McConnell, and Dorothy McConnell, all of Davenport, and Edwina Stout, Silvis, Ill. Her parents, sons, Thomas, Kenny and Jerry, and a brother, Kenny Bonney, preceded her in death.
