Biographical and Portrait Cyclopedia of Schuylkill County Pennsylvania, by Samuel T. Wiley, edited by Henry W. Ruoff, published by Rush, West and Company 1893 - Philadelphia, Pa, Pages 663 and 664:

"William Deibert, father of Albert F., was born on his father's farm near Landingville, this county, in February, 1812, and continued to reside the greater part of his life in the county. He died at Landingville in February, 1893.

By occupation he was a boat-builder, which business occupied his attention up to the year 1829, when he retired from the active business of life. At the time he was engaged in boat-building many of the industries of Schuylkill county were as yet in a state of infancy, so that he witnessed the beginning and progress of a great deal of the material growth of the county. He assisted in building the Philadelphia and Schuylkill canal, and also, during the earlier years of his life, was engaged in boating for a short time. In his political proclivities he had a strong leaning toward the Republican party, and in nearly every instance gave his support to the principles of that party. He was a member of the United Brethren church for a time, but later connected himself with the Evangelical church, in which he became an active worker, and to which he always gave a loyal support. He was a local preacher for a number of years, and did much good among that class of people who are either unable or indisposed to attend church.

He was united in marriage with a daughter of Helfrich Kalb, of Schuylkill county, and had a family of nine children, four sons and five daughters. Three of the sons, J. Henry, George and subject [Albert], enlisted and served in the war of the Rebellion. Henry lives in Elkton, Maryland, and George lives in Illinois."

[Editor's note: The complete article lists William's father as Philip.]

Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania; genealogy--family history--biography; containing historical sketches of old families and of representative and prominent citizens, past and present, J. H. Beers, Chicago, 1916, Volume I, Page 215:

"William Deibert, son of George and Mary (Faust) Deibert, was born on the homestead in North Manheim township. Though he engaged in farming to some extent he was occupied principally as a builder of boats which were used in the Schuylkill canal trade. He died at Landingville when eighty years old. His wife, Henrietta (Kulp), lived to the age of eighty-nine years, and they are buried at Orwigsburg. They had children as follows: Rebecca, Henry, George, Elizabeth, Albert, Charles, Susan, and Mary A. (Mrs. George R. Deibert)."

William's will lists these children and grandchild:

Rebecca Drumheller, Henry Deibert, Elizabeth Zuber (wife of William Zuber), Albert F. Deibert, deceased daughter Susan Grieff (wife of William A. Grieff), Mary A. Deibert (wife of George R. Deibert), and Abbot Deibert (son of his son Charles Deibert).
