Myrtle Irene Hass, 87, entered into rest September 9, 2009 at the Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation.

She was of the Baptist faith and the best mother that was put on this earth.

Ms. Hass was born in Scott County, VA December 17, 1921 to the late Patrick Carson Carter and Reva Ellen Baker Carter. Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Meadow Lee Hass; two sisters, Hazel Akers and Virginia Lane; two brothers, Fred and Charles Carter.

Survivors include her daughter, Mildred Ann Hass, Weber City, VA; nieces, Wanda Cowden and husband, Jerry, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Lynn Wolfe and husband, Scott, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Barbara Perry, Ft. Blackmore, VA and Louise Pampuro and husband, Buddy, Memphis, TN; nephews, Freddie Carter and wife, Susan, Kingsport, TN, James Lane and wife, Sandy, Norton, VA, Larry Lane and wife, Teresa, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Duane Akers and wife, Pam, Memphis, TN; two brothers-in-law, Clifford Hass, Rye Cove, VA, Orbin Lane, Gate City, VA; sister-in-law, Mary Carter, Kingsport, TN; several other nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday, September 12, 2009 at Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of her niece, Barbara Perry.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Denny Hass and Rev. Terry Rhoton officiating. Music will be provided by Working Toward the Promise.

Burial will follow the service at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Pallbearers will be Freddie Carter, Tyler Carter, Jerry Cowden, Scott Wolfe, Larry Lane and Don Baker. Honorary pallbearer will be James Lane
