LEVI BENJAMIN SINGLETON

Levi Benjamin Singleton, eldest son of William and Jane Singleton, was born at Gravity, Taylor county, Iowa, on May 5, 1899, and passed away at the Yocom hospital in Chariton, Iowa, on June 25, 1931, following an operation for appendicitis a few days previous.

He served during World War I and was in France for about eighteen months. He was a good soldier, a dutiful and kind son and brother. He became the only support of the family since his father's death sixteen years ago.

He leaves to mourn his going a mother, two brothers, Roy, of Hartford, and Clyde, at home, and two sisters, Dorothy and Bertha, a host of relatives and friends. His father and one sister, Mrs. John Bennett, preceded him in death. Lee Singleton was a member of the Methodist church.

Funeral services were held at the Beardsley Funeral Home on Saturday, June 27, at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. E. L. Stone. Burial was made in the Lucas (Fry Hill) cemetery.
