Silvanus/Silvenis/Sylvanus Evans was born to Charles Evans and Abigail Morgan Evans in Hindsdale, Cheshire Co, NH. (Recorded birth date of 23 Nov 1814 in NH. The reality is that he didn't have a clue when he was born)After his mother's death in 1823, the family moved to Jefferson Co, NY joining other Evans family members and the Morgan family (Abigail's parents) who had already settled in the area. Judge Sylvanus Evans came to MS in 1837. His two brothers Barton (a druggist in Kosciusko, MS) and William P. (attorney in Marion, MS) also come south. He first was a blacksmith, then "read" law and became an attorney. In 1842, he married Mary Jane Marshall who is buried beside him and after her death, he married Anna Gage the daughter of a planter in East Mississippi. Anna Gage Evans is buried in Enterprise, MS with her two sons.
