Jacob Bell was born in Covington County Alabama. He traveled and sold horses around Alabama and Mississippi. He met and married a young widow in Covington County Mississippi, Annie Coulter Slade, and they together had a daughter, Audrey Mae Bell, and a son, John Tweed Bell. Jacob was thrown by a horse and while recovering contracted malaria and died within 48 hours. He was laid to rest in November, 1915.
