Flora Myrtle (Schultz) Steele, 92, a resident of Santa Rosa died on April 19, 2011 at Bay Area Hospital in Corpus Christi, TX.

William Thellis (W.T.) Steele, 90, a long time resident of Santa Rosa died on April 18, 2011 at his beloved ranch in Jim Hogg County, TX.

W.T. was born on August 13, 1920 in Fulton, MS to Melvin Ernest and Dezzie Mae Johnson Steele. He moved to Santa Rosa with his family in 1926. At the age of 14, he took over the family farm, due to his father's ill health. After 51 years of successful farming he retired in 1985.

W.T. served his community in a variety of ways; 20 years on the Santa Rosa School Board, 20 years on the Valley Co-op Oil Mill Board, and 35 years on the Santa Rosa Gin Board. He was also a member of the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Raymondville. W.T. was an avid outdoorsman; enjoying hunting and fishing. In his later years he enjoyed spending time on his ranch.

Myrtle was born on the family farm in the Klein community (Spring, TX) on August 31, 1918 to William and Caroline Schultz. She moved to Sebastian with her family in 1934 and in 1940, Myrtle became a charter member of the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Raymondville.

Myrtle was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She touched many lives and will be greatly missed. Myrtle was an accomplished gardener; her spring gardens filled with Easter lilies and roses were a sight that neighbors drove out to view. She was a superb cook and was famous for her homemade doughnuts. Myrtle was also an avid fisherwoman who usually caught more fish than her fellow fisherman.

W.T. & Myrtle were married on October 13, 1941. Their son, Billy Schultz Steele predeceases them. They are survived by son, Richard Steele (Judy) of Santa Rosa; and daughters, Sue Ann Pennington (Steve) of Amarillo, Sharon Hance (Bobby) of Rangerville, and Mary Jane Steele of Austin.

Other survivors include their 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and daughter-in-law, Joyce Steele.

Visitation hours will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM with the family present from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
