About 1787 or 1788, Mary is 11 years old, and moves with her family to Spartanburg, SC, area later became the town of Woodruff. In the records of the Church of Christ on Jamey's Creek, later called Bethel Baptist Church, we see John Allen (JPA) "received by letter, September 13, 1788".

In 1790, the family appears on the federal census for Spartanburg Co., SC. The Woodruffs and Lindseys also appear on the census.

On September 12, 1795, only 10 days after her 18th birthday, Mary Ann marries her first cousin, Samuel Woodruff, son of Joseph and Annie Lindsey Woodruff. They have 16 Children.

In 1830, Mary Ann is 53 years old, her husband, Samuel is 55 years old. They have sold their property in SC, packed up and moved by wagon to Henderson Co., TN, in the southwestern part of that state. Some other members of their families moved here also.

By the 1840 Census they have moved to Tishomingo, MS where they live out the rest of their lives.
