US Congressman. Born on a farm near Munfordville, Kentucky, he attended business school, then studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1895 and commenced to practice in Munfordville, Kentucky. He engaged in agricultural pursuits, banking, was Sheriff of Hart County (1887-94), served as elected Attorney of Hart County, (1890-94) and served as master commissioner of the circuit court of Hart County, (1900-15). In 1931, he was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-second, Seventy-third and Seventy-fourth Congresses, serving until his death at age 68 at Louisville, Kentucky.
