Dennis Lloyd Cox, age 63, of Marshall, MI, died Friday evening, April 15, 2011 at Oaklawn Hospital, Marshall, MI, following a lengthy illness.
Dennis, the son of Adus L. and Joan (Johnson) Cox, Jr., was born on December 29, 1947 in Detroit, MI and moved to this area in 1965. He was a 1964 graduate of John Glenn High School of Westland, MI and had been employed at United Steel & Wire Company of Battle Creek. Dennis was an outdoorsman especially fishing and enjoyed any and all sports.
Dennis was preceded in death by his Life Partner and Soul Mate, Daisy Donna (Uptgraft) Bell on March 23, 2010. Surviving are his three sons, Steven M. (Kristina M.) Cox of Wyoming, MI, Dennis L. and David L. Cox; numerous grandchildren including Taylor L., Jaylen D. and Logan M. Cox, all of Wyoming, MI; his mother, Joan Boone of Brighton, MI; his sister, Deborah K. (Scott) McFarland of Fowlerville, MI his brother, Bruce M. Cox of Westland, MI; stepchildren, Laura L. Rathbun of OH, Lisa M. Elston-Young of Union City, MI, Debra L. (Phil) Young of Kalamazoo, MI, Mary L. (Britt) Reed of Mansfield, OH, Jacqueline D. (Rick) Denton and Tammy L. (Floyd) Pollock, both of Battle Creek, John A. Elston and Richard C. Elston, both of Tampa, FL, Edward R. (Patricia) Bell of Battle Creek, James (Laure) Bell, Jr. and Thomas W. Bell, both of Marshall. Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Adus.
The graveside service to celebrate Dennis' life will be held on Friday , April 22nd at 1:00 PM at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens Chapel, Battle Creek. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions in Dennis' honor may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Emphysema Association. The Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Battle Creek, handled the cremation service for the family.
