The Rev. J. C. Creel, Rev. Beaubouef, and the Rev. Rufus Kitchingham officiated with interment following in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Sadie Carpenter, five sons, Edgar Carpenter of Newellton, Solomon Carpenter, Charles Carpenter, and Joseph Carpenter, all of Dodson, and Leo Carpenter of West Monroe; a daughter, Mrs. Lucy Talley of Newellton; two brothers, Pete Carpenter and Luther Carpenter, both of Winnfield; one sister, Mrs. S. M. Green of Dodson; and 24 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

The above DOB (Apr 15, 1880) is on Mr. Carpenter's headstone & is consistent w/ his obituary. However, his WWI draft registration card gives his DOB as Apr. 15, 1881 & the 1900 census gives Apr 1883.
