Funeral Services For 83 Year Old Resident Thursday Morning
Joshua D. Boyd, Sr., 83 year old retired farmer, died at 8:30 this morning at the home of his son, Jarred F. Boyd, at 1498 So. Clay Street. Death was caused by a heart attack.
Funeral services are scheduled to be held Thursday morning at 10:30 at Harton Funeral Home, Fourteenth and Virginia Streets. Services will be conducted by Dr. J. C. Walker, pastor of the First Baptist Church, with burial following at Riverside Cemetery.
Pallbearers for tomorrow's rites will be Claude Ashby, O. C. DeCoursey, Austin Caudle, Dr. Oscar Flener, George Funk and E. C. Major.
Mr. Boyd, who in recent years has been making his home with his sons, Jarred F on Clay Street and Josh Boyd, Jr., on Bethel Street had been confined to his bed for approximately two weeks before he suffered the heart attack this morning.
Survivors are four children, including three sons and one daughter, all of Hopkinsville. The daughter is Mrs. George Hall and the sons are Jarred, Josh and Hugh Boyd. He also leaves one sister.
The deceased was a native of this community, being born out in the county on July 10, 1857. He was the son of James H. and Catherine Means Boyd. For years he was one of the better known farmers of the county.
Mr. Boyd was married on Feb. 3, 1879 to Miss Annie E. Ferguson. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of this city.
