On Texas Death Certificate No. 3613, the cause of Raymond's death was shown as accidental drowning. The place of death was shown as 25th & Columbia, Houston, Harris County, Texas.

Raymond's birthplace was shown as DeWitt County, Texas. His father was listed as H. R. Batchelor (born DeWitt County, Texas). Raymond's mother was listed as Miss Tibbie Norton (born Fayette County, Texas).

The informant for the DC was H. R. Batchelor living at 25th & Columbia in Houston.

In the 1915 U. S. City Directory (Houston, Texas), Henry R. Batchelor was listed as residing at 25th Ave. near the corner of Columbia Street.

Henry Ray Batchelor was the second child who grew to adulthood born to Francis Marion "Frank" Batchelor (1834-1917) and Mary Lowrance (1857-1937). In the 1910 census, Henry Batchelor (aged 27) was shown as single and living in a household headed by his father, Frank M. Batchelor.

Tibbie Ann Norton's parents were James Manley Norton (1846-1912) and Josephine Sterrett (1852- ?). In the 1910 census, Tibbie Norton Edgar (aged 30), was shown as widowed (she was actually separated or divorced from her first husband, Christopher Henry Edgar) and heading a household that included her two children from her first marriage, Frank Edgar (aged 9) and Howard Edgar (aged 7).

Many thanks to contributor Bob Hague for initially setting up this memorial, for the photos of the gravestones, and for the additional information (very detailed and very helpful) about the section of the cemetery where Raymond's grave is located. The following is from one of his communiques, posted here with his permission.

"When I first posted this memorial I took the burial plot information from the Glenwood Cemetery (they manage Washington Cemetery too) burial index. The area where Raymond Batchelor's grave is located is know as Strangers Rest. Most of the graves in that section only have a numbered marker with no name. There are only a handful of family lots in this section. Most graves are individual graves. Washington Cemetery has set up a grid system in this area to help locate graves. The cemetery now call this section R. I have referred to this section as Plot R to differ it from the other sections that have lots."
