He was a sergeant in the 45th Regiment of the NC Infantry of the Confederate Army.

He married 1st Sarah Ann Young and after she died he married Louise Parrish.

Milton and Louisa had a son, Benjamin Harrison Angel, born 6 April 1889 and died 24 April 1980. He married 1st Mabel Hedgecock and 2nd Clara Leola Scarlette.

Milton was a farmer.
He also worked in a tobacco factory and was at one time a Justice of the Peace.
He gave an acre of land to the Summerfield Baptist Church and later sold them another acre.
He planted a long leaf pine tree which is still standing in the churchyard.
