ROSCOE DOUGLAS IS DEAD AT 62

Brother of Ben E. Douglas, Former Mayor, Succumbs In Charlotte Hospital.

Roscoe Douglas, 62, brother of Ben E. Douglas, former Mayor of Charlotte, died yesterday afternoon at 4:45 o'clock in a local hospital. He had been in ill health for some time.

Mr. Douglas before his forced retirement was assistant superintendent of Elmwood cemetery, and prior to that he was associated with Harkey Brothers nursery for several years.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock in Douglas & Sing chapel. Dr. Ernest Neal Orr, pastor of Tabernacle A. R. P. church, of which Mr. Douglas was a member, will officiate, and interment will be in Elmwood cemetery.

Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Margaret Douglas of Gastonia; three daughters, Mrs. Ray Benson of Portsmouth, Va. and Misses Frances and Betty Douglas of Charlotte; three sons, Roscoe, Jr., Charles, and Earl Douglas, all of Charlotte; a brother, Ben E.. Douglas; and three sisters, Mrs. Ed Quinn and Mrs. C. D. Barnes of Gastonia and Mrs. J. W. Eury of Bessemer City.

Pallbearers, all nephews of Mr. Douglas, will be Joe Douglas, Jr., Leonard Eury, George Warren, E. M. Propst, T. W. Wilson, Ed Quinn, Jr., Bill Ward, and Jimmy Barnes.
