Charles & Kate had one daughter, Ruth Patricia Sprinkle, M.D. Ruth married and divorced Cletus William Schwegman.
Charles owned the Atlas Lumber Company in Cincinnati as well as timber interests and mills. According to his biography in Encyclopedia of American Biography, which calls Charles a "lumber trade leader," the Atlas Lumber Company provided all the butts for guns in World War I. He also sold wood to the auto industry in Detroit.
Charles started his career in the lumber trade working for his father in Pennsboro. He later became a sales representative for the Strecker Lumber Co. Sometime after the turn of the century he moved to Cincinnati and went into partnership with his brother-in-law, Kenneth F. Williams. Their company was called the Anchor Lumber Co. Later Charles started the Atlas Lumber Company. It was located at 6 E. 4th Street in Cincinnati. He also owned lumber interests in West Virginia and elsewhere and bought large amounts of timberland. Charles retired in 1939.
Charles was a member of the Lumberman's Club, the Cincinnati Club, the Hyde Park Country Club and the Detroit Athletic Club. Charles was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church.
