She was the daughter of Mary Etta Ham Johnson Hoisington and Hiram Johnson. In 1909 in Prowers County, Colorado, she married William Frank Morehouse, a son of William Littell Morehouse and Geneva Nolt Morehouse.

According to the 1910 U.S. Federal Census, Ethel and Frank were enumerated as living in Lamar, Prowers County, Colorado with Frank's mother Geneva and his sister Corinne and brother Arthur. (Another enumeration places Mrs. Morehouse, Corinne and Arthur in Long Beach, Los Angeles County, California without Ethel and Frank.)

Ethel and Frank's daughter Geneva Ethel Morehouse was born in 1912 in Colorado.

Ethel passed away from tuberculosis on July 22 1916. Her daughter Geneva then resided with Ethel's mother-in-law Geneva Nolt Morehouse. The 1920 U.S. Federal Census shows that Mrs. Morehouse, Ethel's daughter Geneva, and Mrs. Morehouse's son Arthur were residing in Huntington Beach, Orange County, California. (Geneva later resided with her father in Utah, and married Herman J. Sheffiel they later divorced. Geneva passed away in San Diego County, California, in 1979.)

For many years the Morehouse family owned a highly-respected and popular feed store in Huntington Beach.

By 1918 Ethel's mother Mary Etta Hoisington and step-father Charles Foster Hoisington were living in Huntington Beach too. Mr. Hoisington passed away in 1925. Mrs. Hoisington continued to reside in Huntington Beach until she passed away there in 1941.

Ethel Morehouse was a lovely person, and her family made worthwhile contributions to the communities in which they lived and were highly regarded.
