Mr. Richard Burnett died at his home on Green Street, Sunday morning, September 27, at one o'clock.

Mr. Burnett had been in feeble health for some months past but did not become seriously ill until a short time before the end came.

Mr. Burnett was a member of the First Methodist Church and a man of fine discriminating sense of honor, who enjoyed the esteem of a large circle of friends. He was a retired merchant, having come yo Gainesville about twenty years to engage in gent's furnishings, clothing and tailoring business, with his son in law, Mr. U.R. Waterman and from it he retired a number of years ago.

Mr. Burnett was a Kentuckian of the old school, and was one of the men who had moral courage to fight whiskey in that state, a producer of fine whiskies. He was one of tow men to vote for local option in his district in the first local option election.

But few men were more courageous and none stood firmer for justice than he.

Such a man is a tower of strength in any community.

The funeral was conducted from the home yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock by Dr. G.M. Eakes and Rev. E.M. Monroe. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Messrs. Claud and Oreon, of this city, and two
daughters, Mrs. U.E. Waterman of this city and Mrs. W.A. Northcutt, of Louisville. Ky . - Gainesville Ga., Paper
