Sarah LaBarr
Sarah LaBarr, aged 81 years and 3 days, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Margaret Ball, at Wichita, Feb. 4, at gastic catarrh and old age.
Mrs. LaBarr, nee Ward, was born in York, England, Jan. 31, 1815, and with her people came to America in 1821. In 1834 she was married in Indiana to John LaBar, who died at Beverly in 1888. With her husband and children (the latter John and Margaret) she came to Lincoln county in 1871, residing here until her daughter Mrs. Margaret Ball, left here about five years ago. Much of the time during the past few years she has resided with her son, at Erie, Kan.
The body was brought to Beverly Saturday last by her son, and buried by the side of her husband, in the Monroe cemetery. [Actually both LaBarrs are buried in Beverly Cemetery.]
Her only surviving children are John LaBar (of Erie) and Mrs. Margaret Ball of Wichita.
She was a woman of sterling character and many estimable traits, and much beloved by all who have ever been blessed by knowing her.
