Services for Henry Bailey to Be Held at 4 p.m. Today (Monday, June 24,
1946, page - 1) Funeral services for Henry Bailey, 75, of DeRidder,
who drowned in the Calcasieu river near the West Fork ferry Saturday
night are to be held at 4 p.m. today from the Hopewell Baptist church
of DeRidder with the Rev. R.H. Hammett officiating. Burial will be in
the Hopewell cemetery under the direction of Hixson funeral home of
DeRidder. Pallbearers will be L.E. Mills, Jr., Curtis Austin, Sovie
Austin, Estel Austin, Charles Cooley and Dan Green, all of DeRidder.
Mr. Bailey, who was born and reared in Louisiana, resided on Route 1
and was a member of the Friendship Baptist church of DeRidder. He is
survived by five sons, E.E. Bailey of Port Arthur, Tex., E.B. Bailey
of Dallas, Tex., G.S. Bailey, Garthel Bailey and A.O. Bailey, all of
DeRidder; five daughters, Mrs. Leon Austin, Mrs. L.E. Mills and Mrs.
J.V. McGraw, all of DeRidder, Mrs. K.C. Goins of Rosepine, Mrs. Joe
Savich of Younstown, Ohio. Other survivors include two brothers, W.D.
Bailey of Leesville and R.A. Bailey of Kirbyville, Tex.; four sisters,
Mrs. W.B. Lindsey, Mrs. J.W. Hanchey, Mrs. Lillie C. Hanchey, all of
Dry Creek
