Emmanuel was one of the original members of the Mount Crawford Reform church.

Emanuel Roller, a native and lifelong resident of Rockingham County, died at his home in Mt. Crawford yesterday morning of consumption. He had been in failing health for several years and for more than a month been confined to his bed.

Mr. Roller was the son of the late Emanuel and Elizabeth Hulvey Roller and was born on the old Roller homestead near North River Depot 83 years ago. When the Civil War began he entered the Confederate Army as a youth of 17 and served until the close of hostilities. He was a member of Co.H., 12th Virginia Cavalry (Ashby's command), and was wounded in a battle near Richmond. After the close of the war he returned to this county, where he engaged in farming and merchandising. He had not been actively engaged in business during the last few years of his life.

Mr. Roller married Miss Elizabeth Shank, sister of Samuel T. Shank, of near North River depot, who survives him together with five children. The children are Mrs. William M. Roller of Pleasant Valley; Ernest Roller and Misses Lois and Margaret Roller, all of whom live at home except Miss Margaret, who is a stenographer in Richmond. He also leaves one brother, Peter Roller, of near Mt. Crawford, who is now the last surviving member of the family. Another brother, Henry W. Roller, died near North River Depot less than a month ago.

The funeral will be held from the home at half past 1 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. The services will be conducted by Rev. B. K. Hay, of the Reformed Church, of which Mr.. Roller was a member. Interment will be in Trinity church graveyard in Mt. Crawford.
