Funeral services for Ronald E. Bowles, 70, retired MoPac engineer and a Mart resident for the past 50 years, were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday a the Littlepage Chapel. Rev. A.A. Bletcher and Rev. W.C. Beasley, the latter pastor of the First Baptist Church of Mart, officiated, with burial in Mart Cemetery, the Masons in charge at the grave. Mr. Bowles, who had been in ill health for some time, passed away at 6:30 a.m Sunday in the VA hospital in Marlin. A longtime and highly respected employee of the Missouri Pacific Lines, Mr. Bowles had many friends among his fellow employees as well as other residents of Mart. He was a veteran of World War II, a member of th Mart Masonic Lodge and the Brotherhood of Railroad Engineers. He was a quiet, unassuming and friendly man who will be missed by all who knew him. Survivors are his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Able of Waco; a brother, R.S. Bowles of Houston, and two grandchildren.
