Sylvester J. Soukey Sr., 77, of 119 N. Henderson St. died Sunday at a Galesburg hospital. He was born Nov. 15, 1891, at Harrisville, N.Y., and was educated in schools there and at Utica, N.Y. On Oct. 18, 1916, he married Lillian Ruth Kennedy at Galesburg.
She survives with a son, Julian of Peoria; a daughter, Mrs. Dale (Joyce) Ehlen of Galesburg, and eight grandchildren.
Mr. Soukey was employed as a machinist for 41 years by the Burlington Railroad, retiring in 1954. He was a member of Burlington Veterans Association and Senior Citizens Club.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening at the Foley Mortuary, where prayers will be said at 8 p.m.
