Frances' mother died when she and her siblings were small. Her dad couldn't tend to them. Most went to an orphanage. Her baby brother was adopted. The couple would let some of them come stay at times. Frances worked, saved her money to attened St Joseph hospital and trained as a nurse. She did private duty until arthritis became too bad.
