Leila "Virginia" Williams Cooper, age 90, passed away in Erie, KS of natural causes on April 14, 2011 at 5:50 p.m.
She was born September 24, 1920 in Cardin, OK. She was the daughter of John and Mary Williams and the youngest (If seven children.
She attended Whitebird and Cardin schools.
Virginia was married to Andrew "Jack" Cooper for 37 years and he preceded her in death in 1983.
She was employed at Lerner's in Baxter Springs, KS, then worked for the US Postal Service from 1966 to 1983 when she retired.
Virginia was a member of the Cardin Baptist Church for over 50 years, serving as a Sunday School teacher for nearly 35 years.
Virginia was a resident of Cardin from 1942 until 1996 when she moved to Poteau, OK.
Virginia then moved to Parsons, KS in 2002 where she resided until her death. Virginia enjoyed teaching Sunday School, teaching her grandchildren new things and working outdoors.
She is survived by her daughters Sharon and Ken Grunden of Wichita, KS, Jackie Johnson of Mustang, OK, and Caroline and Ernie Peters of Erie, KS. Grandchildren include Becky Grunden Bloomquist of Wichita, KS, Michelle Best Vinson of Mustang, OK, Kendra Grunden Anderson of Wichita, KS, Travis Redden of Overland Park, KS, Israel Redden of Pittsburg, KS, Trey and Jacob Peters of Erie, KS. Great-grandchildren include Caleb, Ashley and Adelynn Bloomquist of Wichita, KS, Bailey Vinson of Mustang, OK, Blayne and Connor Anderson of Wichita, KS, Bailey and Lia Redden of Overland Park: KS, and Anson Redden of Pittsburg, KS.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Andrew "Jack" Cooper and grandson Noah Anderson as well as her parents and all siblings.
Pallbearers are Travis Redden, Israel Redden, Randy Bloomquist, Bryce Anderson, Ernie Peters and Clay Vinson.
The service will be held at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami, OK on Saturday, April 16, at (time). Graveside services to follow at GAR Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Cardin Baptist Church.
