On February 9, 1919, the death angel visited our home and took our dear father, Richard Roberts, age 73 years and ten months. He was a Veteran of the Civil War and shortly afterwards was married to Miss Balyora Bell, who departed this life September 26, 1916. To this union ten children were born, all of whom are living.

He was a member of the Baptist Church at Canada's Creek for many years before his death. He was a kind and loving father, and we so hated to give him up, and all that loving hands could do for him was done, but God knew best.

Dear sisters and brothers, let us not weep as those who have ---, but prepare to meet dear father and mother again where parting will come no more.

The pearly gates were opened wide,
A gentle voice said come,
And Angel's from the other side
Welcomed our loved one home

His loving daughter,
Diza Coffey //// Son of Rutha Lewis & James Washington Roberts / Husband of Balzora C. Bell
