Mrs. Corrie Lee Peeples Baswell, 100, of Sturgis, MS, passed away at her residence on Saturday, April 30, 2011.

Mrs. Baswell was a member of Sturgis Baptist Church, she worked in the Sturgis School cafeteria for 20 years and was a homemaker. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend.

She is preceded in death by her parents, James Albert Peeples and Annie Eliza Northern Peeples; husband, William Onnie Baswell and brothers, Lloyd Peeples, Wade Peeples, Earl Peeples and sister, Ola Yarbrough.

Mrs. Baswell is survived by her daughters, Loree Foote (Jim) of Southaven, MS; and Helen Breland (Sonny) of Starkville, MS; son, James Baswell of Columbus, MS; sisters Hattie Pyron of Grenada, MS; and Odine Palmore of Memphis, TN; brothers, Dewey Peeples of Cleveland, MS; and Purvie Peeples of Atlanta, Georgia; 6 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Visitation for Mrs. Baswell will be held on Monday, May 2, 2011 from 5-7 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville and also on Tuesday, May 3 2011 at 12:00 p.m. at Sturgis Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Sturgis Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Russell Mord and Rev. Lawrence Runnels. Burial will follow in Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery in Bradley.

Pallbearers will be Allen Baswell, Andy Morgan, Barry Morgan, Greg Foote, Larry Runnels, Nathan Hurst, Nick Runnels, and Corbin Runnels.

Memorial donations may be made to the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
