Evelyn E. Moreno, resident of San Jose, known by many as "Honey" and to her nieces as "Auntie Honey" passed quietly into her new life on Monday April 19, 2010. In March she had just celebrated her 93rd birthday. She was preceded in death by her mother; the late Margaret Moreno, sister Amanda Nave, husband Anthony, brother Alfredo (Fred) and his wife Renee Moreno, brother Eduardo (Eddie) Moreno and his wife Edna, brother Raynoldo (Ray) and his wife Dorothy. She is survived by her nieces, Nicola Moreno of San Jose and Marylin McCarthy of Cupertino. Evelyn was a native of New Almaden, and she would share her childhood memories of this time with us. She enjoyed looking at local history books of the Santa Clara Valley and remembering all the changes she experienced, the people she had met and the progress made in the Valley of Hearts Delight. She held several jobs during her lifetime but her favorite was working in the Admissions Office at San Jose State University. She was interested in national politics and kept up on world events. Auntie was from a time when good manners mattered, introductions were required and the art of good conversation was practiced. Pleasant to be with, she was a caring, thoughtful woman. Last year when the Bay Area experienced a small 3.5 earthquake, I called her to make sure she was OK and her response was "That she did not feel a thing. I must have been dancing!" Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass Friday, April 23, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Christopher Church, 1576 Curtner Avenue, San Jose. Interment to follow at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery.LIMA-CAMPAGNA-ALAMEDA MISSION CHAPEL serving the family, (408) 288-9188.
