BRISTOL - Elsie Chigi Skidmore, 91, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2011, at her home in Bristol.
She was born Nov. 10, 1919, in New Providence, N.J., the daughter of Michael and Margaret (Tackas) Chigi.
She married Charles H. Skidmore Dec. 29, 1942, who predeceased her in 1993 after 50 years of marriage. She was a nurse at Overlook Hospital in Summit, N.J. for many years. She loved gardening and handiwork.
Elsie is survived by her three children, Charles Richard Skidmore and wife, Carol, of Gillette, N.J., James Skidmore and wife, Nancy, of Bristol, and John Skidmore and wife, Sue, of Titusville, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Justin Skidmore and wife, Sarah, Sarah Smith and husband, Nathan, and Natalie Gast and husband, Erik, all of New Jersey, Craig Skidmore of New York, Bonnie Crowe and husband, Randy, and Bill Skidmore, all of Bristol, Charles Skidmore and wife, Heidi, Susie Skidmore, and John Skidmore, Jr., all of Florida; and 16 great- grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Helen Mueller; brother, Michael Chigi; and great-granddaughter, Eliza Skidmore.
A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 11 a.m. in St. Ambrose Church in Bristol.
