Agnes Burnley (Goodman) Stockard

Agnes B. Stockard, 91, died Friday evening, November 28, at Navarro County Memorial Hospital, from complications which developed after surgery for hip fracture. She had been a resident of Leisure Lodge Nursing Center, Corsicana since June 6.

Mrs. Stockard was the widow of James Carl Stockard (1886 - 1971). She was the daughter of Ethelbert Miller and Mary Alice Goodman, Mertens. She is survived by one son, James G. Stockard of Fairfax, Virginia; one daughter, Wilma Ruth Cruikshank of Springfield, Virginia; one brother, Miller E. Goodman of Albany, numerous nieces and nephews including Edwin Sheppard of Frost; six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Stockard and her husband were married December 3, 1911. They operated a farm about three miles west of Frost from 1911 until they retired and moved to a home in Frost on January 3, 1955. Mrs.
Stockard's ancestors began arriving in the United States in 1770. They were active in the American Revolution and the Civil War. Her parents migrated from Virginia to Texas in 1984 (note: must be a mistake).

Funeral services for Mrs. Stockard were conducted at the Frost Baptist Church, where she has long been a member, on Sunday afternoon, November 30, with Rev. Jim Baggett officiating. Her body was interred at Frost Cemetery under the supervision of Ballard's Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Ray Adams, Raymond Bryant, Truitt Green, Kenneth Logan, Joe Parum, and A. C. Smith.
