Rockland & Calais – Marie Viola Malburg, 84, died Friday, July 13, 2007 at a Calais nursing home. Marie was born in Rockland, March 5, 1923, daughter of the late Seth and Minnie Staples. She was a member of Rockland Elks Lodge #1008 and the Order of the Eastern Star. While living in Florida, Marie worked at various nursing homes.
Marie was predeceased by her husband, Capt. Oscar Malburg Jr.; a son, Steven Malburg; three brothers, Charles, Lester and Eugene Staples; and four sisters, Mildred Edwards, Algie Candiano, Helen Mason and Rita Mazzeo.
Surviving are seven children, Rose Marie Sorbello of Meriden, CT, Daniel Malburg and wife Judy of Cushing, Linda Currier and husband Brian of Robbinston, Donna Malburg of Presque Isle, Helena Muft of Elizabethtown, KY, Sharon Bartlett and husband Gerry of Calais, and Judith Haskins and husband Mike of Limestone; twenty grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
