John was the son of Frederick Kaiser and Maria Kapfer Kaiser. John was one of seventeen children. He was married to Theresia Eliza Koenig on October 9, 1877 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Lakeport, Yankton County, South Dakota. They were the parents John Alious, Frederick Peter, Isabel Bertha and Albert Joseph Kaiser. Theresia died on October 16, 1911.
John married Johanna Uhe on June 12, 1912 at Sioux City, Woodbury County, Iowa. They were the parents of Lawrence Herman, Frances Elizabeth, Mary Gertrude and Raymond Louis Kaiser.
