JONATHAN OSBORN and his family moved from Union County N.J. to North Wilna, Jefferson County NY in 1842. They owned a farm ten miles north of Carthage on route 26. That farm is now part of Fort Drum. Jonathan Osborn died on Feb. 28, 1857 and is buried at Hillside cemetery in Antwerp. The family farm was sold off in 1864 to Amos Barber who owned a farm adjoining the Osborn farm.

Jonathan Osborn was a son of John Baldwin Osborn, who was born June 6, 1754, at Scotch Plains, New Jersey, and died November 30, 1848, in his ninety-fourth year. John Baldwin Osborn enlisted in the New Jersey militia, was promoted to corporal and sergeant, and participated in the battle of Monmouth, June 28, 1778. His wife, Mary Darby, was also patriotically active during the Revolution. She was born November 1, 1756, and died at the age of ninety-four years.
