"Jane" was the daughter of Charles G. Featherston and Narcissa W. Eudaly. She grew up near Southport and later near Noblesville. She was one of 15 children. She married first to Christopher Cheek Green. He died sometime between 1860 and 1866 when she married George Washington Penrose. She moved to Eagle Village in the 1870's with her family. Interestingly, her grandfather, Rev. Jeremiah Featherston, bought lots in Zionsville in the 1850's when the town was first plotted. He was a resident of Southport.

She was the mother of 8 children. Three by Christopher: Nancy Ellen (Green) Gregory, James E. Greene and Phoebe Jane "Jennie" (Green) Lee. Five by George: Silver Penrose, Eliza Caturah (Penrose) Latta, William S. Penrose, Sanford Ammoniah Penrose and Russia Mayme (Penrose) McGhee. She named her first daughter in honor of her twin sister Nancy Ellen (Featherston) Bradfield.

She is buried in an unmarked grave near the back of the cemetery close to the other Penrose graves. Three of her children are also buried at Eagle Village: Nancy "Ellen" (Green) Gregory, Silver Penrose and Eliza Caturah (Penrose) Latta. Ellen's grave is marked but the others are not.

It is thought that Jane had red or auburn hair as did some of her mother's family and some of her children.

Her daughter and granddaughter were members of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Zionsville. She may have been a member as well but this needs verified.

I am still searching for a photo of her.
