PRICE- Byron C. Olsen, age 73, passed away December 31, 2003 at his home in Price.

He was born June 8, 1930 in National, UT to Ira Glen and Myrtle Clair Bishop Olsen. He married Carol B. Hunter January 12, 1950 in Price, later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.

Byron was a 30 year member and past captain of the Carbon County Sheriff's Posse. One of the hardest things he ever had to do was to get rid of his horse Bruce. He always maintained a close working relationship with the Sheriff's Department. He was a longtime owner and operator of Eastern Utah Produce. He loved the outdoors where he spent many happy hours fishing, hunting and camping with his family and tinkering in his shop. He was honored to be a past Grand Marshall of the Carbon County International Days Parade. He was always a hard worker and respected by all who knew him. Byron suffered from many illnesses through the years but always maintained a great sense of humor and never complained.

Byron is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Carol of Price; and children, Vicki Wells of Spring Glen; Kent and Evelyn Olsen of Carbonville; Scott and Pat Olsen of Price, Barbara and David Maynarich of Spring Glen; and Larry and Dalene Olsen of Price; 13 grandchildren, 13 great- grand-children and two on the way. Also survived by brother Reid "Bill" and Lois Olsen of Helper. Preceded in death by parents, two brothers and three sisters and son-in-law Craig Pilling.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 5, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in the Price 4th/5th Ward chapel located at 545 East 400 No. in Price. Friends may call Sunday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Price and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Price City Cemetery.
