Friends in this community were shocked and grieved to learn of the sudden death
of Sam Shaffer, at his home near Masonville.
Mr. Shaffer was 58 years of age and had been in ill health for some time. He
returned home from the Harrisonburg Hospital Monday afternoon where he had been
a patient. His condition was much improved and he seemed to be on the road to
recovery when stricken with a heart attack and died about 9:30 Tuesday morning.
Mr. Shaffer was a prominent farmer in that section and besides his widow is
survived by a number of children, who have the deep sympathy of a host of
friends in their bereavement.
Funeral services will be held at the Masonville Lutheran Church this afternoon
at one o'clock. Dr. A. E. Krause will officiate and interment will be in Elk
Horn cemetery.
