COOK, Allen M. 93, a resident of Montgomery, died Tuesday, April 5, 2011. after an extended illness. He was born to Fair Calloway Cook and Mary Elizabeth Crabtree Cook in Elba, AL on January 27, 1918. He was predeceased by his parents, ten siblings and a daughter, Elizabeth Ann.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Edna P. Cook; daughter, Cecilia (Jep) Dalton; son, David Allen Cook, all of Montgomery; 4 grandchildren, Michael Dalton, Montgomery, AL, Brian (Heather) Dalton, Nashville, TN, Patrick Cook, Auburn, AL and Ashley Cook, Prattville,
AL.

He was a member of Frazer Memorial United Methodist Church and was a Shriner, Mason and member of the Scottish Rite (Mobile, Al). He joined the U.S. Navy in 1939 and retired in 1959, and was a veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict. He saw action in the North Africia (French Morroco) Europe (Sicily and Italy), and the Pacific (Iwo Jima). He was privileged to be a witness abroad an escort ship to the USS Missouri in Tokoya Bay when Gen. MacArthur and Emperor Hirohito signed the peace treaty to end the war.

Mr. Cook's funeral service will be Friday, April 8, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Alabama Heritage Home with Rev. Susan Beeson officiating. Interment will follow in Alabama Heritage Cemetery with military honors.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to the Hemophilia and Bleeding Disorders of Alabama. Make checks to HBDA, Inc, Montgomery, AL.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Vista Care Hospice for their kindness and wonderful help during the last weeks of Allen's illness.
