Melvin A. Reighard Sr., 53, of 204 W.Whittier Ave., died Friday evening, Oct. 20, 1995, at Altoona Hospital, following an extended illness.

He was born March 26, 1942, in Johnstown, the son of William and Dora (Miller) Reighard. He was twice married, first to Dorothy Murphy. He then married Jean Amick on Nov. 7, 1970, in Altoona.

Mr. Reighard was employed in the maintenance department at the Penn State Altoona Campus.

He was a graduate of Chestnut Ridge High School.

Mr. Reighrd enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.

He coached the Industrial Softball League since 1977.

Surviving are his wife, two sons; Tom Patterson of Altoona and Melvin Reighard Jr. of California; a daughter, Melody Reighard of Texas; two sisters: Edith Faight of Elyeria, Ohio and Glenda Whysong of Henderson, Nev.; his mother of Bedford; seven grandchildren and a great-grandson.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at E. Merrill Smith Funeral Home, Broad Avenue.

Reighard - Services for Melvin A. Reighard, of 204 W. Whittier Ave., will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at E. Merrill Smith Funeral Home Inc., broad Avenue, by the Rev. David Miller. Interment at Carson Valley Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the E. Merrill Smith Funeral Home Inc., Broad Avenue. In memory of Mr. Reighard, contributions may be made to the Palliative Suite, c/o Altoona Hospital, 620 Howard Ave., Altoona, PA 16601.
