He was born February 23, 1926 in Dardanelle, AR to Guy and Eva Bray Atchison.
He retired as Assistant Fire Chief for the Fort Smith Fire Department, was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in both World War II and the Korean Conflict and he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Van Buren.
He is survived by his wife Velva Atchison of Van Buren; two sons, Jerry and wife Terrie Atchison of Tulsa, OK and Jimmy and wife Cindy Atchison of Fort Smith; seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
Funeral service was Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Fentress Mortuary Chapel 1805 North "A" Street with burial in the U.S. National Cemetery all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
