The town of Ruby was shocked last Thursday by a telegram announcing the sudden death, at Pavo, Georgia, of Dr. J.B. Threatt. Dr. Threatt located at Ruby in 1894 and practiced there sixteen years, prior to his removal to Pavoe. He was well beloved by the people of Ruby and of Chesterfield county, both as a citizen and as a physician. Dr. Threatt was a native of South Carolina, a son of the late Dr. T. Threatt, who died fifteen years ago. Dr. J.B. Threatt was married in 1890 to Miss Lea West, of Westville. He leaves one brother, Mr. P.V. Threatt and Mrs. W.H. Sellers, both of Ruby.

Earned his M.D. degree from University of Georgia Medical Department (now The Medical College of Georgia) in 1887. The medical school was founded in 1828 and loosely affiliated with UGA from 1873 up through 1950.
