Gail Southard

Gail Southard, 82, long-time resident of Kimball County, died July 25, 2004 in Billings, Mont. Gail was born on February 4, 1922, to Charles and Anna Southard on a farm in Kimball County.

On June 27, 1942 he married Phyllis L. Spencer of Dix in Columbus, Ohio. After serving in the army during WWII, Gail and Phyllis settled on a farm north of Dix, Neb. where they farmed for over 40 years. After spending several years of retirement in Kimball, they moved to Brighton, Colo., where they lived at Inglenook. In Nov. 2003, they moved to Highgate Senior Living in Billings.

Gail is survived by Phyllis, his wife of 62 years, daughters Susan Baack (Dan Gross) and Sally Eby (Newt) all of Billings, and son Andrew Southard (Lynn) of Brighton, Colo; brothers Tom Southard of Kimball, and John Southard of Tacoma, Wash.; sisters Verda Allison of Kimball, and Fern Fabiano of Sacramento, Calif; grandchildren Chris and Beth Bogert and family of Dix, Monica and Dany Riveron of Kaiserslautern, Germany, Aaron and Cassi Baack and family of Fort Wayne, Ind., Matt and Marge Baack of Billings, Mont. and Holden Southard of Brighton, Colo; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Everett, Harry, Vernon, and Bob; and sister Margaret and an infant sister.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service held. Memorials may be sent to Hospice or the charity of the donor?s choice.
