Ellen Jane Altman passed away at 10:00 p.m. on December 28, 2013 at St. Catherine's Manor in Findlay, OH, surrounded by her family. Jane was born November 11, 1927, to Robert Duff Elkin and Nellie (Marshall) Elkin, in her family home located on North Loop Rd. in Dayton, Pa. She married James (Jim) Albert Altman on December 26, 1948 in Yuma Arizona. Jane and Jim celebrated 61 wonderful years together. Jane was a homemaker and mother of six. She was active in her church, Concordia Lutheran of Findlay, where she contributed her skills within an international teaching ministry. Jane enjoyed serving in the nursery ministry of her church as well. Jane was an accomplished artist and painter who enjoyed gifting her paintings to others. She was skilled in teaching knitting and crochet at the Senior Center of Findlay. She provided afghans for elder care and baby blankets for infants. Her family were also recipients of her varied artistries. Jane is survived by her daughters, Dana (Roger) Patterson, Donna (Richard) Ebanks, and Diana Hartsing; sons, Daniel (Sandra) Altman, Duff (Laurie) Altman, and Douglas (Melissa) Altman; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; sisters, Rosetta Day, and Sarah (Sally) Wadding; and a brother, Robert David Elkin. She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Altman; brothers, Richard Elkin and Emory Elkin; and grandchildren, Christina Dill, and Derek Victor Johnson. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a religious service to follow. Jane's daughter, Pastor Donna Ebanks of Findlay First Church of the Nazarene, and son, Pastor Duff Altman of Deweyville Church of God, will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Elm Grove Cemetery, Marion Twp. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Catherine's Manor of Findlay, and Southern Care, Inc. of Toledo.
