Obituary. The Erie Record, September 10, 1915, page 8.

Mordica [sic] Taylor was born in Westmoreland county, Pennsylvania, on September 18, 1829, and passed away, at the state hospital at Parsons, Kan., on August 16, 1915, at the age of 85 years, 8 months and 29 days. He was married to Nancy Beabout at Athens, Ohio, in 1853 and to this union seven children were born, the survivors being Daniel Taylor of Zanesville, Ohio, who hasn't been heard of since the big flood there; William Taylor of Des Moines, Iowa; Mrs. Rose Blake of Columbus, Ohio; Mrs. E. J. Forsythe of Erie, 23 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Nancy Taylor passed away in 1874; then he married Emily [Cohagen] Russell, who passed away in 1902, since which time he has lived with his children. He was a coal mine blacksmith and laborer all his life, receiving many injuries which no doubt caused an affliction which made It necessary to send him to the state hospital in 1914 to be cared for. The remains were taken to the Gregory undertaking rooms, from which place they were taken to Oak wood cemetery and laid to rest, Rev. Stavely of the First M. E. church officiating. Those of the relatives present were a daughter, Mrs. E. J Forsythe of Erie, Kan., and Mrs. Ida Marshall and Mrs. Ollie Richardson of Parsons, granddaughters, and a son, William Taylor, who arrived too late, owing to the fact that he could not be reached in time by wire. Mr. Mordica Taylor was a member of the M. E. church about thirty years and was a member of M. W. A, about 50 years.…… A Friend.
