The community was saddened to hear of the passing of a well known and highly respected citizen of Lindsay. Mr. T.J. Archer, at his home, 62 Queen Street, on Saturday night, September 10, 1955 after an illness of two weeks duration.
The late Mr. Archer was in his 86th year, second oldest son of William and Elvira Archer and was born near Allsaw, Ontario. He farmed near Minden, Ontario for a number of years before coming to Lindsay, 36 years ago, at which time he purchased a farm on the Bobcaygeon Road and later Archer's Dairy, which he operated for 21 years. He lived there until retiring 10 years ago when he moved to town.
Mr. Archer was twice married, his first wife Ada Elizabeth Archer having predeceased him 54 years ago and his second wife, Minnie May Taylor, a year and a half ago.
From their two unions the following children are left to mourn his loss, Russel, Lola (Mrs. Olive Endicott), Donald, Amy (Mrs. Peter Hutton), Earl, Arnold and Grant of Lindsay, Irene (Mrs. E.J. Barry) of Minden and Cora (Mrs. Lyal Blake) of Toronto. A son Taylor Archer preceded him in death eight years ago. He also leaves to mourn his loss a sister, Mrs. Wm. Robson of Dauphin, Manitoba.
The many beautiful floral tributes bore silent testimony to the high esteem in which he was held.
