Jacob Frederick Behler, the son of Leonhard Behler and Anna Margarete Meck/Mack, was born 16 July 1851 in southern Michigan near Bucyrus, Ohio according to the family bible of Leonard Behler though Jacob's death certificate states he was born in Ohio. He moved to Lowell Township, Kent County, Michigan with his parents in 1854. He married Mary Ellen Wilson 25 December 1879 at St. Louis, Gratiot County, Michigan. She was born 14 June 1854 in Ottawa County, Ohio. Jacob died 22 June 1907 at Belding, Ionia County, Michigan.
Jacob and Mary Ellen had four children:
1) Nellie May, born 23 October 1880 at St. Louis, Michigan, married Roy H. Killeen 23 July 1902 at St. Louis, Michigan. They have one daughter Marion Louise, born 16 July 1904 at St. Louis, Michigan. She married Harvey Warren Perry 22 December 1928 at Flint, Michigan.
2) Pearl Estella, born 2 January 1883 at St. Louis, Michigan, married David B. Hardy 19 October 1912 at Saranac, Ionia County, Michigan. They had no children.
3) Cora Elva, born 13 December 1886 at St. Louis, Michigan, married William J. Knorr 2 September 1909 at Windsor, Canada.
4) John Marvin, born 2 June 1890 at St. Louis, Michigan, married Eva L. Lehman 2 September 1914 at Detroit, Michigan.
