Sarah L. Allen, daughter of Thompson Wallace Allen and Roxanna L. Birchard, married Charles E. Caldwell on 25 Dec 1884 in Trumbull Co., Ohio.

"In Memoriam"

Sarah L. Caldwell, daughter of T. W. and R. B. Allen, was born in Braceville, O., Sept. 10, 1857, and died Dec. 26, 1892, at the old home.

Of a cheerful disposition she was the life of her home, and only those who knew and loved her best know what has gone from their lives.

Raised in a Christian home, at an early age she sought her Saviour and united with the Methodist Episcopal church, of which she remained a faithful member until she joined the Church Triumphant.

She was married to C. E. Caldwell December 25, 1884, and moved to Warren, Ohio. Her married life was a very happy one, and during her last sickness, although feeling it was all for the best, she clung to life for her husband's sake.

She was feeble for three years, and suffered much at times. While lying in bed she saw a light from Heaven, the bright rays of which reached across the River, and if seemed so real and the distance so short that she reached out her hand to welcome her Saviour, but realizing her time had not come she committed herself into His hands, believing He would do all things well.

Through all her suffering her faith never wavered. She said, "I am leaving my loved ones on this side of the River, but my Saviour will meet me on the other side."

The funeral was conducted by her pastor, Rev. Thomas Wood, who spoke from the following text, which she had selected for the occasion: "I will come again and receive you unto myself, that where I am there ye may be also."

Her husband, father, mother and two brothers, while mourning the loss of their dear one here, are cheered by the blessed promise of a meeting in the bright beyond.
