Robert G. Grove, 87, of Bluffton and formerly of Rochester, Ind., passed away at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2006, at Meadowvale Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Grove had retired as a steamfitter. He was a U.S. Army veteran with European Theater service during World War II. He was a member of Bluffton American Legion Post #111, the Ossian Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and the First Baptist Church of Bluffton.

Born on Aug. 14, 1919, in Wells County, he was a son of Charles O. and Ada (Bennett) Grove. His first marriage was to Mary Jacobs. In 1976 in Rochester, he married Vivian L. Zartman, who preceded him in death on Jan. 12, 2001.

Survivors include his daughter, Nancy Clark of Elkhorn, Neb.; sons Robert L. "Les" Grove of Rochester, Stanley C. Grove of Fort Wayne and Dean K. Grove of California; a stepdaughter, Diana Bradley of Rochester; a stepson, Mike Meyer of Rochester; seven grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 11 stepgreat-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, three half sisters and four half brothers.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester. Calling is from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to services Saturday, all at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery, Rochester, where military graveside services will be conducted by the Rochester American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts.
