GREENSBORO - Mr. James Morton Barbee, 78, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 16, 2006, after a long illness.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Forbis and Dick Funeral Home, N. Elm Street, with Pastor Mark Sinks and Rev. R.A. Pegram officiating. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Oakwood Cemetery in Concord.

Mr. Barbee was born on September, 29, 1927, in Concord. He worked as an entrepreneur in Greensboro with his primary business, Barbee Heating and Air Conditioning. He had been retired for the past 17 years. His hobbies were his woodworking shop and his gardening. He loved dogs and deeply appreciated all aspects of nature.

All of his family and friends knew him to be "one of a kind," and he will truly be missed.

Mr. Barbee is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie Love Barbee, and daughter Vickie Maness. Also surviving are granddaughters Ashley Cole and Tammy Walker and husband Trip; and two great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Forbis and Dick Funeral Home, N. Elm Street.
