U.S. Congressman. Born in Cuero, Texas, he graduated from the University of Texas, in 1932, from that university’s law school in 1936, was admitted to the bar and proceeded to practice law in Cuero, Texas. He was a member of the Texas State House of Representatives, (1937-44) and served as a Private in the United States Army, during World War II. After the war, he was a member of the Texas State House of Representatives, (1945-47) and a member of the Texas State Senate, (1947-54). In 1955, he was elected as a Democrat to the Eighty-fourth Congress, serving until 1957. An unsuccessful candidate for re-nomination, he practiced law and was a rancher until his death at age 52.
